Description of the Formax FD 6104 Folder Inserter

As an entry-level tabletop inserter, the Formax FD 6104 allows a business of any size to take advantage of the benefits of automated folding and inserting. Because this inserter is an automated machine, it eliminates the need to manually send out tens of thousands of mail pieces.

Since the Formax FD 6104 has a 5” full-color touchscreen panel, operators can set up and control the device with the help of wizard-based software. Using the home screen, you can quickly access saved jobs, while bold icons indicate the status of each feeder. Using the one-touch feature, users can program 15 jobs at once.

The product has two fully automatic sheet feeders and one automatic insert/BRE feeder, and it provides a range of folding and inserting options. A maximum of 1,350 envelopes can be produced per hour by this machine, and it processes documents up to 14" in length. The machine checks that each envelope has the correct number of documents using electromagnetic double document detection. Once the inserter is idle for one hour, the energy-saving mode automatically switches it to standby.

The Fold-only C-Fold Kit is ideal for brochures and marketing pieces that need to be folded without enclosing. By simply swapping out the moistener kit, the C-Fold kit can be installed without tools.

  • Does this machine need a cool down period between each batch? If so, how long of a cool down periods and how large can a batch be?

    There is no concern for heat buildup or a cool down period when operating this machine. Its monthly duty cycle is 5,000 pieces but that represents the maximum usage for a standard lifespan and schedule of maintenance, if you intend to run more than that monthly then you should be looking at the next level up in the product line. The manufacturer recommends that the usage be spread throughout the month and not run entirely in a single day, but that has more to do with reducing the setback if and when a malfunction occurs. These machines save an incredible amount of man-hours manually stuffing envelopes however they do require on site support periodically, which is something we are able to offer anywhere in the US.

  • What is the maximum number of sheets the Formax FD 6104 can fold and insert?

    There is a capacity for folding and inserting five sheets at the same time on the FD 6104.
