Cumberland is known for making reliable size reduction equipment and the C Series granulators are one of their most heavy duty solutions. They are capable of handling such things as heavy extrusion scrap, films of all kinds, bailed bottles, piping scrap, and more. The Cumberland C1400 Central Granulator is the larger model in the series and has a massive 20" x 56" throat and cutting chamber. The design of the chamber and rotor system is innovative and known as one that prevents "melt down" issues. This is something common to the heavier duty systems because they tend to use more of a grinding or chopping action that generates friction and creates heat. This causes polymers to melt and smear inside of the machines, and this leads to difficulties with maintenance and downtime. The Cumberland C1400 Central Granulator successfully ends this problem through the use of a two bed chamber, Twinshear blades on the rotor and the bed knives, and a scissor like cutting that does not require as much energy and allows air to flow freely. The system also uses rotating end discs in the chamber, which also ends frictional heat issues.

The HCHC blades are low maintenance and the split chamber also ensures that any upkeep and repair are simplified and streamlined too. The chamber lifts apart to reveal the screen cradle and the easy access panel into the discharge system. This is an Airveyor system that does not need to be disconnected when accessed, which is why the unit can be cleaned in around half of the time of other models. The Cumberland C1400 Central Granulator has a 125HP motor and v-belt drive. It can be upgraded to a 200HP motor if needed, and other options include the installation of conveyors, blowers, and cyclone separators. There are also options for a hog style rotor, raised knife beds, and a conveyor feed. Because the unit already has its innovative scissor action and relies on a dual flywheel design in the rotor and chamber, it will provide high quality processing right out of the box.
