Handles a wide variety of applications including extruder purgings, sheet pipe scrap and other high torque applications
The H Series units were developed over many years, to perfect the process of reclaiming purgings, patties, and the extremely heavy cross section material forms.
Description of the Cumberland 50H Central Granulator (H Series)
The Cumberland 50H Central Granulator offers a large throat size of 20" x 50" and a massive cutting circle of 18". Capable of turning your thick slabs, reject pipe, rolls of film, and even 6" sections of purging into .25 to .375 inches, the H Series Granulators are more than simple granulators. The unit is equipped with Cumberland's unique Helical Hog Rotor, which is a unique configuration of staggered knives and bed knives. This rotor has 18 blades (crafted from durable HCHC) along with two raised bed knives of the same composition. The machine is driven by a hefty 200HP motor that is further supported by outboard mounted, heavy duty, double roller bearings. This guarantees that the throughput rate of 4k pounds per hour can be maintained, regardless of the demands of the materials being reclaimed or processed. The Cumberland 50H Central Granulator brings materials into the 112" high infeed via a conveyor, but machines can be equipped with blowers and other conveyor accessories too. Materials drop into the smoothly machined internal areas of the system and are processed at very high speeds before heading out of the airveyor discharge. This unit is a step base model and can also have cyclone separators if needed. Because the unit operates at such high speeds, there are some who will need to utilize water cooling systems for the processing, particularly if the materials are polymers that may melt or smear if encountering too much friction. The unique Hog rotor however tends to granulate without excessive creation of friction.
The unit is driven by a v-belt and relies on safety switches that are hard wired to common junction boxes. Maintenance and cleaning are simple processes thanks to the central design and the outboard mounting of the bearings. The 3/8" screen is standard and there are no options for alternative sizes. It is easily cleaned via access panels, and this makes the Cumberland 50H Central Granulator one of the most durable and rugged options for high capacity processors. If you are reclaiming high torque, overly thick, and oversized materials, you want durability and consistency. This unit is capable of long term service and will deliver uniform results for many years.
