Description of the Cumberland 24B Central Granulator (B Series)

High capacity and heavy duty are not always things possible in granulating processes. The Cumberland B Series Central Granulators however make it possible for continual reclamation and size reduction on such materials as pipe scrap, post-consumer bailed bottles, films of all kinds, and heavy duty purgings. The Cumberland 24B Central Granulator is the smallest model in the series and has a 15" x 24" throat with a 14" cutting circle. It uses a conveyor feed to deliver materials into the cutting chamber. Two bed knives and open three knife high shear rotor evenly cut the materials as needed. The blades are HCHC and all of the interior surfaces have been constructed for smoother processing and flow. The construction of the Cumberland 24B central granulator is heavy duty and uses steel construction, flywheel sheaves, and outboard mounted bearings. The bearings are mounted outside of the system to eliminate risks of contamination but also to allow them to be a larger size to facilitate larger and tougher loads. The rotor is also stronger and features knives that are bolted to the unit with the use of alloy steel bolts.

The use of the 100HP motor ensures that the cutting is done in an efficient manner that allows for the lowest power consumption possible. Throughput on the Cumberland 24B central granulator is 100 pounds per hour when the standard screen is in use. This is a 3/8" screen that can be swapped out for many other sizes. Maintenance on this machine is not complicated thanks to the design. The outboard bearings are sealed and nearly maintenance free and the end removable screen make it simple to clean and clear the system. Controls are NEMA Type 12 and feature safety interlocks. There are a lot of standard options available for this unit too, and that includes the use of tray and sheet feed rolls or a pipe feed on the infeed area; a water cooling chamber; five knives on the rotor; a raised bed; various screens to suit the application; and alternative accessories such as a blower, separator, conveyor, or cyclone unit. Clearly, the Cumberland 24B Central Granulator can be a very useful machine for those who have to process high volumes of heavy duty materials. It is the smallest in the entire series but can deliver years of reliable and hassle free service to any location in need of reclamation.
