Typically, the larger slot is used for paper, while the smaller slot is used for CDs and DVDs. This allows the residue to fall in different shred bins, so that the waste can be properly disposed of. The paper shred falls into the main shred bin, while CD and DVD shred falls into a secondary shred bin attached to the inside of the cabinet door.
Statistically, high security combo shredders do see a higher return and servicing rate at Whitaker Brothers due to confused employees inserting CDs and DVDs in the paper slot.
