Description of the Destroyit 2603 /2 High Security Shredder
The DOD approved Destroyit 2603 SMC paper shredder offers the best security available: level 6. Meeting all NSA/CSS specifications, it is used by many government organizations that need top secret information destroyed. The hardened steel cutting head shreds your sensitive or classified information into tiny 1/32 x 3/16 inch particles. While the Destroyit 2603 can easily tear through paper, metals (staples, paper clips) and plastics (credit cards, CDs) will damage or break the cutting head. MBM offers a 1 year warranty on their super micro cut cutting heads. The 10 ¼” throat accommodates an assortment of paper sizes and accepts up to 11* sheets per pass. The durable gears and “twin drive system” are housed in a dust-proof housing to prevent rust. The powerful single phase motor is extremely quiet and is rated for continuous operation.
This highly secure shredder is also tremendously safe, offering the standard Safety Protection System (SPS) package. An electronically controlled clear safety shield covers the feed opening to ensure safe operation. Photo cells located within the feed opening detect paper and automatically start shredding your documents. When the last sheet is detected, the shredder will automatically cease operation. If the shred bag is full or the cabinet door is opened, the Destroyit 2603 SMC will automatically cut-off. The large “Easy Switch” multifunctional button features back-lit icons which illuminate to display operational status. You immediately know when the shred bag is full, if the cabinet is open or if there is a paper jam; in the event of any of these happening, the shredder automatically stops running. The Electronic Capacity Control (ECC) is the perfect solution for avoiding nasty paper jams. Colored lights located above the Easy Switch control indicate sheet capacity levels during the shredding process to prevent overloading. Your shredder will almost never overheat or burn out thanks to the Energy Saving Mode (ESM), which shuts down the Destroyit 2603 after one hour of inactivity.
The Destroyit 2603 /2 SMC comes with a handy package that includes the Whitaker Automatic Oiler, 1 case of shred bags and 1 carton of #55 shred oil. The automatic oil injection maintains your shredder, keeping it in peak condition. I've bought about 50 of these for various facilities. Here are my experiences:
PRO
+Great combination of price and performance.
+More durable than any other shredder we've used in the past.
+Automatic oiler makes these very low maintenance.
CON
-Won't handle staples and paper clips, but no high security shredder does
-I wish they would make the 2603 with a slot for CD's and DVD's.
