CMG's TRM48x48 Single Shaft Shredder can handle a variety of shredding jobs. It boasts the title of being "the only shredder that cuts like a granulator" yet its low-speed (82 rpm), high-torque cutting process is more energy efficient than a granulator. What brings this shredder close to the domain of a granulator is its uniquely close cutting tolerance between the 47 (91 optional) rotor knives and the bed knives. Most machines have upwards of .030" cutting tolerances, but the TRM48x48 has a .007" close cutting tolerance. This design not only results in lower energy consumption but higher application versatility, as the same 47-1/4" long rotor can be used to destroy many different materials, including solid purgings, wooden pallets, thermoplastic rubber (TPR) film, fiber, wire, and more. As opposed to the 8-3/4" rotor diameter of the 24x24 and 36x36 models, the TRM48x48 contains a rotor with a 15-3/4" diameter which gives it the ability to process larger parts with a higher throughput.

The CMG TRM48x48's ability to shred TPR demands special attention because this substance is impossible for a chainsaw to cut through and usually requires a 100-200 HP granulator, but the rotor alignment and close cutting tolerance of the TRM48x48 processes this material with only 75 (60/50 optional) HP! The CGM TRM48x48 is built soundly and intelligently, with a door allowing complete access to the trough and cutters and a swing-down cradle for access to all other major components. The rear panel of the hopper can be adjusted to allow long or cumbersome objects to be fed through. This way, even if the Single Shaft Shredder model with the largest opening is still not large enough, you can be rest assured that your oversized materials will go into the TRM48x48.
