Description of HSM Classic 108.2 L4 Cross Cut Shredder

Security meets dependability with HSM Classic 108.2 L4 micro-cut shedder. Designed to meet level 4 /P5 security requirements, the 108.2 L4 can shred 9 to 11 sheets of paper per pass, turning each one into over 2,000 cross cut particles. Made in Germany, the Classic 108.2 L4 offers superior quality and durability. The secret to its powerful performance is a continuous duty motor and a 100% solid steel cutting cylinder that comes with a lifetime warranty. When it comes to ease of use, you won't find anything as simple to operate as the 108.2. Automatic start / stop, on, off and reverse are all controlled by a single rocker switch. In the automatic start/stop mode, shredding begins as soon as paper is detected by the photo cell located in the feed opening. Shredding stops as soon as the feed opening is cleared. When shredding is done the Zero Energy Stand-By makes sure that no energy is being wasted while the shredder is in stand-by mode.

The Classic 108.2 uses Whisper Shred Technology to reduce shredding noise which can cause distractions in a busy office. It also comes with a large 13 gallon waste container with a built in monitor that detects when the bin is full and immediately shuts the shredder off to prevent possible damage to the shredder.

The Classic 108.2 L4 provides the peace of mind security of cross-cut shredding along with the quality construction and reliable performance that people have come to expect from HSM Classic shredders since 1987.

Q: I was trying to find the difference between the L4 and the regular model. It appears that this one shreds paper down to 1/16 x 5/8", which strikes me as micro cut as opposed to regular cross cut. Is that it? L4 means security level 4?
A: That is correct. The majority of our non-government customers go with level 3 shredders which is a standard cross cut. Less popular but still quite effective is level 2 which is a standard strip cut. If you are shredding documents that you consider more sensitive then you might consider a level 4 shredder instead. But be warned that because level 4 shredders reduce paper to an even smaller particle, they are going to be slower, take less paper at one time, and (sometimes) are more expensive.
