Description of the Cumberland CMS 2000 Medium Duty Single Shaft Shredder (CMS Series)
As the largest model in Cumberland's CMS Series of medium duty shredders, the Cumberland CMS 2000 Medium Duty Single Shaft Shredder is a real performer. With an enormous hopper feed opening of 77" x 61", materials are sent into a large 31.5" x 72" cutting chamber. Using a tangential design that allows the unit to remain smaller in size than other shredders, this shredder relies on a special hydraulic ram to deliver optimal performance. The Cumberland CMS 2000 Medium Duty Single Shaft Shredder can easily manage the shredding of some of the most demanding materials available. From purgings from injection and extrusion molding applications, to heavy wall paper and cardboard, baled and loose films, and even many types of wood industry rejects and scraps - this machine can shred them to specific sizes. The machine can take materials from one to four inches in size and reduce them down to 1/8" particles. It can accomplish this because of the unique system that starts with the hydraulic ram installed in the hopper. This uses a 7.5HP motor and a swinging movement to ensure that materials remain in constant contact with the cutters. The lower speed (102 RPM) of the cutters allows them to handle materials that require higher torque processing and the ram simply maintains pressure to get quick and uniform results. The rotor is an 18" diameter drum fitted with 144 cutters (made of D2 steel). There are also 14 cutters in the bed as well, also D2 blades that are four-edge reversible models. The rotor is made of abrasion resistant steel in order to withstand wear and tear and to deliver consistent results over the long term. The individual cutters can be replaced as needed since they are mounted into knife seats for maintenance.
Though the Cumberland CMS 2000 Medium Duty Single Shaft Shredder can easily operate as a standalone unit, it is also ideally suited for a partnership with an inline granulator. This is a way of achieving optimized results and increasing up the granulator's performance to around 150% of its anticipated capacity. Even if the shredder is used as a standalone entity, it will provide excellent output on an ongoing basis. Maintenance for this machine is made easy by the access doors installed for cleaning or repair. This means that the Cumberland CMS 2000 Medium Duty Single Shaft Shredder is a solid solution for those who must handle size reduction of difficult materials, and who don't have a lot of free space for their equipment needs.
