Features of the Cumberland 850 Light Duty Single Shaft Shredder (CLS Series)
12" diameter drum style rotor provides efficient cutting of various process scrap.
Low speed rotor (72 RPM) transmits high cutting torque for tough applications.
The low speed cutting action reduces noise levels.
Standard rotor is fabricated using abrasion-resistant steel for long-life in high-wear application.
4-edge 1.3" reversible cutters with bolt-in replaceable knife seat for easy maintenance.
Heavy-duty self-aligning outboard mounted bearings that reduce the possibility of material contamination.
Double wall manual-feed hopper that can be positioned for feeding through front, back, or side of machine.
Tangential feed hopper for easy ingestion of material without the need of a hydraulic ram.
CLS Series light duty single shaft shredders are designed for processing injection and extrusion mold startup purges. It reduces material to approximately 1 inch to 4 inches when combined with a Cumberland granulator (stacked 2 stage or in-line with conveyors) an
Description of the Cumberland 850 Light Duty Single Shaft Shredder (CLS Series)
Although many manufacturing processes require some light duty shredding, there are times when it is beneficial and useful to have a bit of heavier duty capability too. The Cumberland CLS series of shredders can deliver this sort of variable results. The Cumberland 850 Light Duty Single Shaft Shredder is the biggest model in the series and features a large 33" x 20" infeed opening. The actual cutting chamber is 35" x 24" and uses a drum style rotor. This is a low speed model that can use its built in torque to handle light to difficult applications. The rotor is made from an abrasion resistant steel that ensures it can stand up to the years of high wear and provide consistent results. Naturally, the cutters (which are replaceable and bolted into position) with their four edges and durability are part of the process, but the overall design of the Cumberland 850 Light Duty Single Shaft Shredder also plays a role in the results too.
The tangential feed hopper ensures that the machine can easily take in the materials to be processed, and without additional hydraulics that force the feed into the throat. The hopper can also be positioned according to need and is adjustable to the side, front, or rear of the machine. The heavy duty bearings, mounted on the exterior to prevent contamination while supporting the functions of the Cumberland 850 Light Duty Single Shaft Shredder, also help to provide excellent results. Essentially, the unit can accept purgings from extrusion and injection mold startup processes. The general size for materials range from one to four inch thicknesses, and the end results are tiny 1/8" to 1/2" granulate or pieces. It is significant to note that the shredder, as described, is a stand alone. It can also be partnered with a granulator to obtain even better results. The Cumberland 850 Light Duty Single Shaft Shredder has a drive capacity of 54HP, and is known for helping granulators to average roughly 150% of its estimated throughout put capability without burning up enormous amounts of energy. Because it does run at low speeds it is also one of the more quiet units and has extremely tolerable noise levels. If you are handling reclamation or shredding of a variety of materials and you need a shredder that is flexible enough to handle them, the Cumberland 850 Light Duty Single Shaft Shredder will be a reliable solution.
