They have a high capacity and are capable of tackling some of the most formidable materials, including everything from x-ray films to thick sheets as well as bails of post-consumer plastics and extruder purgings among many other tough materials. The Cumberland 50B Central Granulator is one of the larger units and features a massive 20" x 50" throat, along with an 18" cutting circle inside of the chamber. It can handle around 3500 pounds per hour in throughput and uses 10" airveyor chute to discharge the reclaimed compounds. The unit sends materials along a conveyor feed into the heavy duty base. This houses the durable rotor and the large cutting chamber. The rotor is an open, three knife high shear design that features bolted blades to ensure their durability and long use. The beds are also equipped with the same HCHC blades as the rotor, but are limited to two blades that can be raised if the option is purchased. These blades work together to cut efficiently and evenly. The process is handled by the 150HP motor, the heavy duty flywheel (which offsets any moments of inertia created by materials that are extremely challenging), and the outboard mounted bearings. The interior of the chamber is machined too, and the smoothness allows optimal flow of all materials too. Everything passes into the standard 3/8" screen before heading into the evacuation area.
