The Martin Yale 2051 SmartFold is one of the easiest, most effective letter folders to use. It has high memory capacity, with 7 pre-programmed folds and 10 other custom folds. It can create letter, half, z-fold, gate, church cut, engineering (short z-fold) and double parallel folds. Preset with 5 paper sizes, and the 7-sensor diagnostics system for manageable trouble shooting makes easy set up. Visual feedback is provided by the LCD display.

This office paper folder has the ability to feed a wide range of paper weights without any adjustment to the feed system, which saves time between different fold jobs. The feed tray can hold up to 500 sheets, and it folds at a variable speed of 3,000 to 15,000 per hour. Just tell this paper folder the details, and it does the rest.   • I have a Konica-Minolta printer that I lease that is supposed to be able to fold anything. My paper weight is 28#/120gsm, and it has a smooth finish, which I believe is the problem with the misfolds. Can this machine handle smooth (not gloss) paper? For reference, I'm using Hammermill laser printer paper.

    I am familiar with paper that has a smooth finish to help color pop. It makes it a bit more difficult for the paper folder to tolerate but is still within specification. It certainly wouldn't be worth the money to upgrade to an air folder ($9000+) just to prevent the occasional misfeed. What you'll most likely find is that your feed tires and fold rollers will need to be replaced a bit more frequently because they won't continue to be as effective on heavy and slippery paper as they wear down.
