Description of the HSM ProfiPack 400

Manufactured in Germany, the HSM ProfiPack 400 cardboard shredder offers quality design and efficient shredding capability. Shipping departments collect an incredible amount of cardboard every day, which typically gets discarded. The HSM ProfiPack 400 allows these departments to recycle repurpose this material for packing purposes. Operation is simple thanks to the user-friendly on/off and reverse rocker-switch. The ProfiPack 400 features a throat width of 16.3" and accepts one layer of cardboard at a time, equivalent to a 3/8" sheet of cardboard. What allows this machine to handle tough cardboard? The specially shaped, hardened cutting rollers rip through cardboard and guarantee even padding of the material. The result: shock-absorbent netting, perfect for protecting fragile items during shipping. By repurposing this material, you can both save money and help the environment. A built-in ruler allows the user to measure the desired width of the packaging.

While some units require a cool down time between shredding projects, the HSM ProfiPack 400 powers through as a result of the continuous duty motor. This shredder allows you to feed materials without interruption or down time. A 2 HP (1.54 kW) motor drives this sturdy machine, which runs on standard 120 volt AC power connection. Unlike other recycling units that produce disrupting operational noise, the HSM ProfiPack 400 maintains low level sounds (66 dB), which is softer than a typical vacuum cleaner. The thermal fuse protects against overheating, helpful especially during busy shredding days.

Compact in size, the HSM ProfiPack 400 offers dimensions of 14.5" D x 23.25" W x 14.125"H. Why occupy valuable floor space? The ProfiPack 400 sits conveniently on any tabletop in your production area or recycling center. Although not exactly lightweight, the 82 lb. cardboard shredder is still portable and easy to relocate if necessary. Ideal for large archives or as a central shredding point, the sturdy sheet steel housing is perfect for use in any recycling center, production area, or warehouse. Complying with national and international safety regulations, the HSM ProfiPack 400 is an ideal unit for shipping departments or recycling centers.

Q: How much dust does the HSM ProfiPack 400 product after shredding cardboard?
A: With many, many units in the marketplace we've never received a complaint about dust on the ProfiPack series.

Q: Does this cardboard shredder come with a starter bottle of oil?
A: The HSM ProfiPack 400 isn't actually a shredder - it is a cardboard repurposer. As such the rotating cutting cylinders are substantially different from those on a paper shredder. Without going too deep into the engineering reasons why, the HSM ProfiPack series has no mechanical need for oil. Therefore it doesn't come with any oil.

Q: What about staples in cardboard boxes? Do they need to be removed or can the shredder handle them? Will staples damage the shredder?
A: This unit is made to process cardboard, not metal. So it's always a good idea to remove staples before you run cardboard through the equipment. With that said, we haven't had many cases where cutting head damage was caused by a staple. The packing tape is actually a more common cause of problems. Try to remove tape from the cardboard before you run it.
