The mid-range model of the Cumberland 800x Series is the Cumberland 814X Beside-The-Press Granulator. Offering up to 172 pounds per hour in throughput and accepting a wide range of feed stocks, it is a compact and durable solution to many different needs. Since the cutting chamber in the Cumberland 814X Beside-The-Press Granulator is small (8" x 14"), its ideal uses include reject components from the extrusion process, injection and blow molding and other smaller materials. However, this machine does provide optimal flexibility in terms of acceptance thanks to its unique hopper design. The pivoting nature of the hopper allows hand feeding, robotic feeding, and conveyor delivery of materials. The wheeled base also allows it to be used in many locations in a single site.

Though rather small and light in weight, the Cumberland 814X Beside-The-Press Granulator delivers in performance. The three knife rotor is an open scooped design and features rotating end discs. It has a 10HP TEFC motor and uses HCHC knives that are specially heat treated for long term use and optimal cutting action. Not only does the Cumberland 814X accept many materials and in a number of ways, the low speed function is supported by an oversized solid flywheel that prevents friction from impairing performance. The unit is also equipped with a sound attenuating hopper that reduces noise levels. It is easily controlled and maintained with the NEMA Type 12 controls that include start and stop push buttons, and safety interlocks. The Cumberland 814X uses a drop down removable screen cradle and a bolted cutting chamber that guarantee easy clearance and maintenance.

If the unit needs to be enhanced or upgraded, there are several workable options that include modular feed chutes, vacuum take off discharge, a more powerful motor ranging from 7.5 to 10 HP, and D2 knives that can make the unit even more wear resistant than when simply used "out of the box". The Cumberland 814X Beside-The-Press Granulator is a great value thanks to its durability, long wearing components, and overall flexibility. It can become one of the most useful size reduction tools in a facility, and also one of the safest. It is the perfect solution to dealing with smaller scrap materials.
