eet Lucy, one of the bravest pets we’ve ever heard of. On October 14th Lucy had a horrible accident. While searching for a tasty treat, as most dogs do, she wondered over to a paper shredder that her owner, Brandon uses to shred his bills with. The shredder was not running, and, just like millions of other people looking to protect their identity with shredders, Brandon assumed it was safe. But not all shredder brands are equipped with the latest safety standards, and Lucy is among other pets that have paid the price. While searching for food, Lucy licked the head of the shredder when the unthinkable happened—the shredder turned on and began to run. Lucy has survived the traumatic event, but not without loss. Lucy no longer has the majority of her tongue, one of the most vital parts of any dog’s happy existence.

After just a few short hours of hearing of Lucy’s story, Whitaker Brothers has pledged to help her as best that we can, and we hope you will help us in this cause.  Lucy is more than just another victim. She is a chance to educate others and stop this from happening again.  Brandon says that his new mission is not only to make sure Lucy is well, but also to, “help spread the word of this freak accident to other pet owners and parents to hopefully prevent this from happening.”

Lucy is in tremendous pain and is suffering many hardships while drinking, eating, and well, just being a dog.  This is a great chance to take Lucy under our wing, and help Brandon Northcott give her the best care possible to ease her pain.

“Lucy went in for her last scheduled check up yesterday and the vet told me that she is back to her healthy hydrated self! I haven’t had to syringe her water in over a week! The vet was amazed. Lucy is an extraordinary dog. We thank everyone for your support and contributions.”

“Yes, she seems to be doing much better!  She is staying hydrated with syringe feedings and is starting to get the hang of eating without a tongue.  I’ve been experimenting with a variety of foods. So far she has been eating her dry food with the occasional bowl of cat food. ( she loves it for some reason) she seems to salivate out a portion of whatever she eats so I’m not certain on how much she is actually consuming.  She goes back to the vet tonight for a weigh in. Thank you again for all of your support and concern!”

“Thank you for your concern! I’m still looking for advice from people who have had similar things happen to their pets. If anything help spread the word of this freak accident to other pet owners and parents to hopefully prevent this from happening. Thank you again for your thoughts and concern!
